Nature Journaling

Using Nature Journaling to learn about watersheds is the primary focus for this project.  We believe that making use of the skills involved in journaling (writing and sketching) provides students the opportunity to question, observe, and think about nature in a number ways that go beyond learning by just reading about the topic.

The Nature Journaling model we will be using can be found as a downloadable PDF here.

For some students, coming up with questions about the organism they're observing might be a bit challenging.  It might help to think about questions in terms of an interview they are conducting.  A great guide for using this approach can be found at the Beetles project website, here.

The Beetles Project is an excellent source for ideas and resources for nature education.

A good set of interview questions for nature journaling can be found here on the Sharing Nature site.  There are many more ideas and activities available.
