SUMMER WORKSHOP - Session 4

We had our fourth Summer Workshop session this Saturday, July 31.  Three teachers, Gwenette Monroe and Jennifer Brady from Fredericksburg City Schools and David Steinberger from Fredericksburg Academy attended.  Sophie Lynn, Lisa Lewis, and George Meadows were there as well.
During the session teachers worked on a birdhouse building activity developed by Lisa (pictures below.) One of the Crow's Nest Research Center's woodworkers, Nectalino Ical, also joined in the build, quickly putting together two birdhouses.
We also visited the pond and examined water samples using magnifiers and stereo microscopes.  We saw a lot of pond life - boatmen, skimmers, and possibly water bears.  A number of student journaling kits were also provided for the workshop participants.
We also took a look at the Google 3D Animals Augmented Reality feature, adding an Emu to the workshop group.
